Answer Garden
- Answer Garden is a great tool for eliciting known vocabulary on a topic
- Click "Create Answer Garden," write a question or topic in the "Topic (required)" box, adjust settings if you want (for example, you can change the character length from 20 to 40 characters), scroll to the bottom and click "create," and then have a discussion and type students' answers as responses
- When you finish, you can click "share" below the answer garden and share it on social media or "export" and download the image as a PNG; you could then send the image to your students, tell them to review it for homework, and give them a vocabulary quiz on it in the next lesson
Dream Reader
- Dream Reader has some very authentic and fun vocabulary lessons
- There are several topics, such as idioms, synonyms, situations, British slang, and proverbs
- These would also be great for a lead-in for class; they are usually pretty short and digestible

- Great for students who prefer the British accent
- Variety of videos on grammar, vocabulary, and pronunciation

- Many helpful videos on variety of topics, such as capitalization, commonly confused words, punctuation, etc.
Language Guide
- Wonderful array of visual vocabulary; you can print the images
- Warm-up idea: give students the sheet (online or in person) with images on a chosen topic and in small groups, they have to name as many pictures as they know in English; can be done as a competition

Word Hippo Thesaurus

Britanica dictionary
- This dictionary is great for lower levels (perhaps up to B2); it was created for English language learners, and the definitions tend to be clear and a little simplified
- There is also a word of the day and many more.
